allow new opportunities

(Scroll down for the Video + Know What You Want Worksheet!)

It's been a challenging few weeks: lots of sickness going around, not a lot of sleep for my stuffed-up two year old (or her mama) and work deadlines that have had me at the computer on weekends when I would rather hike a mountain for a 7-year-old's birthday party!

Saturday evening found me and my husband sitting at the table after dinner--kids playing together in the living room. In those precious moments when we could talk, I admitted that I was feeling drained and exhausted: as an entrepreneur, as a mom, as a wife, as a friend. My home hadn't seen the attention I love to give it. Things were breaking and we weren't finding time to fix them. As a Feng Shui practitioner, I am all too aware of how broken things around your home correspond to things breaking down in your life.

So we decided to use our Sunday morning date time (thank you Mom!) to go on a fixing, cleaning rampage rather than sit in the local steam room. My husband dismantled the living room. I finished scraping the wallpaper glue off the walls of my home office (soon to be transformed--more on that to come!).

Now I don't know if I've mentioned how much I love my husband. But let me tell you, there is nothing quite as sexy to this mom of two kids, than a husband who happily spends our coveted date-time fixing things and deep cleaning our home.

Our day of Spring Cleaning and repairs left me feeling refreshed and inspiredlighter and certainly more joyful and connected

Getting that Spring Cleaning bug reminds me that I used to be the queen of holding on to every last little thing, because stuff is useful, right? I was sure I'd need everything I'd so dutifully stored...eventually.

I came by this trait honestly, as so many of us do. There is nothing wrong with the desire to have what you want at your fingertips. The problem comes when you also have many things that you don't need at your fingertips.

Not only does this excess stuff make your home feel crowded, it also sucks your time as you constantly organize and tidy it. As things naturally devolve, it becomes hard to find the stuff that you do actually need and want. And so you spend a full hour, stressed out, searching for an item that you could have gone out and bought for $3. But why go buy one if you know it's there somewhere?

There's an easier way. There's a connection between your space--how full or cluttered it is--and the ease with which new opportunities enter your life. If you want more opportunities in your life, check out today's video: [How to Have an Inspired Home] Allow New Opportunities

Enjoy! :) Tenaya

[How to Have an Inspired Home] What Every Home Should Have

What do delicious valentine's day treats have to do with decluttering?

Read on to find out and print the recipe.

Love. Chocolate. Family. Time. Space.

So what do homemade Almond Butter Cups have to do with Feng Shui and decluttering?

The end result of all the work I do--creating functional spaces through Feng Shui, design, & decluttering--is living in a home that is easier to maintain. My space supports my life: bringing me ease rather than overwhelm, balance rather than stress.

Being surrounded by only the things I love removes the visual static that overwhelms my mind. As I spend less time dealing with my stuff--moving it, organizing it, fixing it, putting it away--I have more time and energy to do those things that I love, with the people that make me happy.

I love to cook. I am passionate about eating good food. I adore my family--my children, my husband. I am so pleased to make treats for them that make them smile and also give them healthy energy. And... these little morsels satisfy my deep seeded urge to combine almond butter with chocolate!

And so, in honor of this upcoming Valentine’s Day, I share with you a recipe that is: delicious, easy, and pretty darn healthy. Click on the recipe to print the pdf. May you experience ease and joy when you share these morsels with your loved ones.

YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF LATER.

As a food lover and a mom, I think a lot about the food that I feed my family and put into my own body. Because my husband and I both love to cook, our Recipe Book has been stuffed to the gills--both with our personal favorites and with recipes we've torn from magazines that look delicious.

It was so jam packed, in fact, that finding that perfect recipe was not always possible... until we used the KonMari method to clear it out. Now, as we enter this holiday season, it is easier and more fun to share delicious, traditional recipes with our kids.

Because I want your holiday season to be snug and soothing, I created this short video to help you KonMari your own Recipe Book should you feel inspired.

And to accompany it, a one page Tip Sheet on how to Feng Shui your Recipe Book, the KonMari Way:

how to create your very own vision board

(Template & Instructions Inside)

This weekend a sweet group of women joined me to set powerful intentions for the New Year. It was a time to allow our creative, intuitive self full rein; a time to release old patterns and hurts that no longer serve us; a time to dream big, with the clarity and palpable reality that enables you to know that dream waits for you down the line.

It so inspired me, that I want to share the process with you--so that you too can manifest the reality you desire.

Vision Boards are personal, but I wanted to share mine with you.

We happened to be in the midst of New Moon energy--a potent time for sewing seeds for new growth. We were also rapidly approaching the Winter Solstice, a time to find the light within. And if that's not enough, we were about to ring in the New Year. But never fear, there is never, even if you do not have this Astrological tri-fecta, there is never a wrong time to create clear visions of your future.

There are infinite ways to create a Vision Board. As a Feng Shui practitioner, the process I use places the Feng Shui Bagua Map as the foundation for your board--to help inspire specific intentions.

But all you really need are a few magazines, some scissors, a glue stick and a clear mind.

Follow these instructions to create your own destiny.

Happy Visioning!
